What are razor bumps?
Razor bumps, or ingrown hairs, are small, irritated bumps on the skin. 
You get them after shaving, when strands of hair curl back on themselves and grow into your skin. Irritation and pimples are caused by them. Scarring may also occur as a result of them.

What causes them?
It is possible to get razor bumps from shaving, waxing, or plucking.

Razor bumps are not caused by hair removal products called depilatories. However, they can irritate the skin and should be used only once or twice a week.It is not possible to get razor bumps after removing hair permanently with laser treatments.

How to prevent razor bumps
Prevention techniques include the following:

✔Shave in the direction of hair growth rather than “against the grain.”
✔Use a non-irritating shaving cream.
✔Avoid pulling skin while shaving.
✔Reduce the frequency of shaving.
✔Replace your razor frequently.
✔Exfoliate with retinoids, glycolic or salicylic acids, or benzoyl peroxides to help clear the follicle opening.

Home remedies for razor bumps

In addition to prevention, these natural remedies may help soothe razor bumps:

Aloe vera
Aloe vera has an antibacterial, soothing, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory effect. Razor bumps are treated effectively with it to stop itching, swelling, and redness.
Aloe gel can be extracted from inside the plant leaves and applied to the affected areas. Allow it to dry for at least 30 minutes. You should repeat this process several times a day.

Tea tree oil
There are antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties to tea tree oil. By opening up the pores, loosening the ingrown hairs, and soothing the redness and inflammation of razor bumps.

Add 10–15 drops of tea tree oil to a bowl of warm water. The washcloth should be soaked in the bowl and applied to the affected area for 30 minutes. In case of need, repeat a few times a day.

Exfoliating scrub
Exfoliate the affected area gently to remove dead skin cells that may be clogging pores. You can use a mild store-bought exfoliator or you can mix sugar and olive oil together to form a do-it-yourself paste.
The exfoliator or paste should be rubbed over the affected area for five minutes. Warm water should be used to rinse off.
